MICHAELA BYERS
LECTURER
"We make sure that when you graduate you’ll be far more ready to practice, and a lot more confident in dealing with and advising clients. "
Michaela Byers is the Unit Co-ordinator in Immigration and Refugee Law at UWS.
Like most UWS lecturers, she practices what she teaches. Michaela is one of Australia's leading immigration lawyers, having helped hundreds of people who travel far and wide to our great country to seek a better life for their families. Michaela has been a mover and shaker in defending refugees, having represented families such as the Badraie family (2001) in a case which has changed the way Australian Refugee Laws are interpreted.
"It is with great joy that I witnessed this family being reunited after the release of Saeed from Villawood Detention Centre."
Defending the rights of others demands and tests the very basics of the legal process, and Michaela brings the wealth of her knowledge to her everyday teaching at UWS. It's that kind of experience and knowledge you can expect from lecturers at UWS.
We make sure that when you graduate you’ll be far more ready to practice, and a lot more confident in dealing with and advising clients.
